I hadn't parsed the subject. Now that you mention it, I was
thinking along the lines of feeding an uncooked alien to the dog.

At 12, I wouldn't let her do it, but she WOULD. On her 2nd birthday,
which was about 2 months after I adopted her, we were on the beach in NJ
with a -5 wind chill and she and my then-10-yo Golden were swimming in
the waves. My face was red from windburn and cold for about 3 weeks.
The dogs were having a grand old time though! I've gotten more
conservative in the last decade!

with a -5 wind chill and she and my then-10-yo Golden were swimming in
the waves. My face was red from windburn and cold for about 3 weeks.
The dogs were having a grand old time though! I've gotten more
conservative in the last decade!

Punk settles in.

Well it's been a few days now and this bunny is settling in well.
I have not let him be with Dylan as yet although the cage has been in
Dylans' area. They tried to bite each other through the bars :(
However he is such a cute little character, the first of my bunnies to play
with toys. He throws the carrot rattles about and one gets put in the water
bowl on a regular basis. he loves his litter box and hay tray which is
covered over with a box, he also likes the indoor cage I used when I took
him to Dylans' area. He chases round the kitchen and has been seen to binky
too. Dylan yesterday scratched at the kitchen door to be let in, he knows
that Punk is in there. I let him in, but kept hold of him, I'm sure they
would fight at the moment.
Punk has also ventured into the garden, at first on the lead to show him the
way back in and on the 3rd time he went out by himself while I was putting
out washing on the line. He had a good explore and we kept a close watch on
him, after about an hour I picked him up and brought him back into the
house, he seems to enjoy the fresh air.
I am going to continue with putting the cage in Dylans area and hope they
begin to like each other, then I will try them together without the cage.
Please wish us luck for a safe and happy bond.

I didn't make any public posts about Mw's death (until now), although I did
send a private e-mail out to a handful of agility and RPDB acquaintences...
athough I'm sure others have realized she's gone as I haven't mentioned her
since just before I got Cenau.
We lost her in August to cancer; she had a rapidly-growing tumor on either
the liver or spleen which was probably hemangiosarcoma. She was 10.
Hadn't mentioned my Mam at all (until now) because it wasn't relevant to
anything here. Janet knew because she saw the obit in the local paper. Mam
died in the early spring; she was 86 (my parents married late in life) and
had been failing for several years - minor dementia due to a frontal lobe
stroke, severe arthritis, and oesteoporosis. Pretty much of natural causes
although the official verdict was "complications of pneumonia".

I've read the entire alphabet up to, I think, M - and the two I have now
are N and O. Courtesy of the Baltimore Reads Book Bank (as were the Tamora
Pierce books); my sister teaches ESL there, and we picked up some good
reading at a recent open house. I'll return the favor next time I clear out
my book shelves. Besides, I gave B.R. something like 20 boxes of children's
books when they were starting up 20 years ago.<G>

I haven't read any of the Spenser books in awhile... hmm, may have to
rectify that if I happen to get to the library any time soon.

My guess is someone on the internets said that vets don't study past
school. And if someone says it on the internets, it must be true.

Zebedee & Molko both know when it's time to return to their cage. if we are

I think there are some instances of vets with enormous fees, but I don't
think they make up the majority. My vet's exam fee is in the $30-40
range, can't remember for certain because I haven't actually been
charged it in a couple years. If I have more than one other item on
the bill they always waive it for my family since we bring them
something like 20 animals worth of business. My parents' vet on the
other hand charges almost twice as much for the same procedures and
what not.

And they aren't waiving the exam fee because they have stacked so many
other procedures on the bill either, as Yoda's average annual vet
expense to date is around $120 a year and approximately $75 of that is
for heartworm preventative. I sometimes wonder if they make any profit
on us barring emergencies.
